Whenever I think the wild and crazy heyday of social games is over, along comes Zynga. Zynga has announced that it is acquiring Conduit Labs, creators of the musical Facebook games Super Dance and Music Pets.

Dragon Hunter is a 2-D adventure game reminiscent of the old school console games of yesteryear. Its hack-n-slash style game play is simple to learn, which is good for players of all ages. Unfortunately, the game needs to offer more variety of game play to keep you playing in the future.

The term “iPhone killer” gets thrown around a lot nowadays, and it’s a silly term at best. Like it or not, the iPhone is here to stay until Apple drops the ball in some significant way – no one phone, company, or platform is going to kill it. The term people should be using is “iPhone competitor.” What company is ready to go toe-to-toe with Apple in the mobile phone business?

I admit it. I was late to the game. I never really started watching the Criminal Minds TV series until about a year ago when I caught a marathon of episodes late at night. I couldn’t tear myself away! Each episode was captivatingly creepy and refreshingly different from the vast majority of the other “cop” shows on television. Little did I know that six months later I’d be tapped as the designer and producer for a light adventure/casual game version of the Criminal Minds license.

I'm often wary of "free" MMO games on both the iPhone and the Web. Unless you're willing to shell out regular amounts of cash, they're often slow experiences that feel less like fun and more like tedious work. As a result, I started The World of Magic, a free MMORPG for the platform, with more than a little wariness. I was expecting a ponderous game that would leave me a bit poorer and frustrated. Instead, I found a fast-paced little adventure that was full of fun.

Most hidden object games, even those that deal with the dark subject of murder, tend to do so with a relatively light touch. Players are told more than they're shown, and they're rarely told much: Someone has died and it's up to you to save the day. Not so with Redrum: Time Lies, the follow-up to the 2008 release Redrum. Graphic and disturbing is the name of this game, and you'll definitely want to make sure the kids are out of the room before you jump in.

The Mogul series by Alawar games is back with its third installment, Ski Resort Mogul. You'll still deal with the hotel business, but you'll follow a new heroine in a setting that's different from predecessors Hotel Mogul and Vacation Mogul. The good news: this series definitely continues to improve and makes for an entertaining gaming experience.
